Photos from My Phone - October 2015

It's been a while since I've done a "Photos from My Phone" post; so, I thought I would tackle it today.

First up is a photo from this past Saturday when I took Pippa to the Dog Wash. I know I've mentioned it before, but the pet shop in Five Points has a dog wash which is super convenient. I can give Pip a scrub and they will trim her nails while we are there and they clean up after us - all for $15. The folks who work at and run the shop are really nice and I like to support local businesses so I'm happy to be a repeat customer. The pet store is called "Goin' To The Dogs' and Cats" and it's located on Wellman in case you want to check it out. They have lots of fun things for pets of all shapes and sizes.

The first Saturday of the month, I drug out my bins of Halloween decorations and inside I found such a treasure! I had completely forgotten that I bought two Halloween costumes for Pippa. One is a pumpkin (which I haven't put on her yet) and the second is a referee, also known as the "Rufferee". It's a ref's outfit and even has a yellow flag for penalties. It is hilarious and I'm so glad I got it because it has provided me with numerous laughs. This past Friday, Pip managed to get a hold of it and tore two holes in it, but I think I can sew them up and she can still wear it.

Mild Green Mojo Chips by Late July - They are good!

A picture of a dead shrub which I had a heckuva time getting out of the ground. I had actually asked my male cousins to come by and help with it but when they didn't show up week after week, I decided to have another go at it. I guess I had enough stress or aggression to get that bad boy out of the ground. Persistence pays, my friends.

This coral fungus was on a felled tree branch on the Alms House Trail on Monte Sano which I hiked on Labor Day. I thought the fungus was so pretty. It looked like it should be in the ocean, not on the side of a trail.

Here we are, the 2015 Halloween Party Planning Committee. G is our leader. I wasn't told to make a scary face, but instead look half asleep.

These "surprise" or "spider" lilies pop up in Five Points in late August and early September. I have always loved them and never had any in my own yard until this year. I had one come up in the flower bed in the back yard.

I have the College Gameday Bobbleheads in my office and a few weeks ago I came in and found a note on my desk from the janitor. She was dusting and something bumped into Desmond and he fell and his arm broke. I was sad, but not devastated - this is a sign that I'm growing up. I was proud of the janitor for confessing that she was the one who broke the Desmond. She actually stopped by that afternoon before beginning her shift and asked if she could pay for the damages. I told her no, it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about it. One of the guys at work glued Des back together for me. Sadly, he will never have full use of his right arm again.

That's it for this edition of "Photos from My Phone". Until next time.

Photos From My Phone - July 2015 Edition

It's been a while since I've done a "Photos From My Phone" post; probably because most photos from my phone are added in to whatever I'm writing about. I did, however, find a few that I don't think have previously been posted and thought I would share them here today.

Pippa is not spoiled.

These chairs belonged to my cousin's grandmother and I bought them from her. They are super cute and comfortable. One day I may have them recovered but for now I'm sticking with the old fashioned floral.

My cousin Tyler and I in a very blurry picture at his engagement party. I was feeling less than stellar and I'll blame my terrible looks on that.

Finally found a Coke with my name on it. Still searching for the elusive Diet Coke with Natasha but for now, this Coke will do just fine! It was discovered in the cafeteria at work, in case you were wondering.

My favorite Toms and my white legs on a boat.

Sometimes I color a picture with the pre-schoolers at church.

The parking lot at work on Thursday, July 2 when I arrived. It was slim pickings that day.

Pippa has a hard life.

Did I mention she's not spoiled?

Photos from My Phone - January 2015 Edition

It's been a long while since I've done a "Photos from my Phone" post and since there's a whole lotta nothing going on right now, I figured this would be as good a time as any to post a few.

I'm going to start with some photos from New Year's Eve. I set up a "photo booth" of sorts for the New Year's Eve party my parents and I hosted. The booth was basically just a large frame wrapped in Christmas lights and I had some props to go along with it. Truth be told, I think I should have gotten a larger frame, but hindsight is 20/20 they say. So, without further adieu, here are some photos from the New Year's Eve Photos Booth.

This past year's New Year's Eve party was a return to the parties of my youth when my parents hosted their friends. We brought back all the old traditions which included a door prizes winner each hour. The midnight prize of a homemade sweatshirt made it's triumphant return. My mom used to make these each year and this year was my first shot. Sadly, I put an apostrophe where one need not be, but I suppose that just gives the shirt character. My friend Leah was the lucky winner of this shirt. I'm hoping she'll drag it for the next party and keep the tradition alive.

Christmas to me just isn't the same without a Red Velvet Cake. When I was a kid, my Aunt Juanita made Red Velvet Cake at Christmas and I would often call her to be sure she was bringing it. It was probably one of my favorite things about the holidays. Now that I've taken over most of the cooking, I always make sure we have a Red Velvet Cake to enjoy - this is more for my benefit than any one else. This year, it had been raining and raining and raining and was still raining on Christmas Eve. If you're a baker, then you know that baking on a rainy day can sometimes be disastrous and that was certainly the case this past Christmas Eve when I tried to turn my cakes out of the pan. I ended up with a big ole pile of Red Velvet mess. Most of it was still eaten though and it did taste good which I suppose was the main point anyway.

This next picture was taken on Christmas day as my dad was trying to pose for a picture with Pip. Clearly Pippa wasn't having it and the look on my dad' face cracks me up. Maybe we'll have better luck next time.

The night of my knee surgery, I ended up with a house full of people, an impromptu party of sorts which was super nice and loads of fun. At one point, we put Pippa in the bedroom so we could all eat dinner. Up until this point, she had never bothered the Christmas tree and so it was a little surprising (and then again not) when she trampled under the tree and over presents to try and get back to us in the main room. I think my dad got a better picture than I did, but this is the one I have on my phone. Thankfully no presents were broken and all trees remained upright throughout the excitement.

The last photo for today is of a Nothing Bundt Cake that some co-workers gave me a couple of days before my surgery. I'm really blessed to have such a great group of friends no matter where I go in life.

That's it for this month's edition of "Photos from my Phone". I'm sure I have a lot more I can share, but I'll save those for another time.

Photos From My Phone - October 2014 Edition

It's been a while since I've done a photos from my phone pot so I thought I'd see what I could dig up today. Honestly, I don't seem to take a lot of photos with my phone and the ones I do take are usually for the blog and so you've already seen them, making it pointless to post them again. I did, however, manage to find a few that I haven't posted on the blog and some of these weren't even posted on Instagram so they will be new to everyone. So, without further ado, I present Photos from my Phone, the October 2014 edition.

It's the time of year where I leave for work before the sun comes up and I hate it. However, on occasion, the sun rise makes for a glorious sky. This first photo was taken on a Thursday morning a couple of weeks ago when we actually received a wee bit of rain. The sun began peaking through the clouds and there was rain on the windshield and I thought the sky looked lovely.

The second picture was taken last Friday morning. I made an early morning stop at Wal-Mart to pick up some pumpkins before heading into work and when I wlaked out of the store, the sky was pink and red (red sky in the morning, sailors take warning) and I thought it looked beautiful. So, I stopped my cart and took a picture before loading up the car.

The next two photos are random photos of Pippa. The first I thought was hilarious because my old ratty blanket is kind of draped around her and she also has a funny expression on her face as though I had disturbed her. The second is just her chewing on a toy which is a common occurrence in our home and I tend to have a lot of these types of photos.

The last two photos are from back in August at my grandmother's birthday party. I had big plans to write a post about the dinner, but never got around to it. We all gathered at Red Lobster to celebrate her 82nd birthday. My aunt bought a cookie cake and we dined on seafood and enjoyed some dessert. Shout out to my dad for buying dinner! Most of my family was there, including Sydney whom I had not seen in a while.

That's it for this edition of photos from my phone. Hope you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend everyone! The weather is supposed to be chilly so enjoy it!

Photos From My Phone: June 2014 Edition

Jackie made a comment in the last post that I should have posted a photo of my leg and so I thought; well, maybe I should. So, since it's been a while since I've done a "Photos From My Phone" post, I decided to do just there. Here's the June 2014 Edition...

When I was in Hawaii, I bought some nail polish that changes color in the sun. Out of the sun it's a natural almost flesh color (above) and in the sun, the color is a dark pink/light maroon (below).

This photo is of me and Ashlyn after her dance recital a couple of weeks ago. She did a really great job dancing!

I walked in on this scene after taking a bath one night.
The Pip cannot be trusted!

Pip has taken to laying and jumping up on the picnic table that is in the backyard. This night, Jackie had come over for burgers and we had to put Pippa in the house; otherwise we would not have been able to eat at the table for her jumping up on it.

This is Greer, my cousin Lauren's little boy and he is holding my Aunt Linda's puppy Lucy Lou. I'm sure Lucy was thrilled.

This was the scene outside of my voting precinct last week. The church where we vote was also having VBS; so, there was fun and games in addition to voting.

This is pretty much normal for me and The Pip.  She likes to lay as close as possible to me and it can be suffocating at times.

And finally, I've saved the best for last. This is a photo of my leg from Thursday night. This is four days after being injured. Still not completely scabbed over, but it is healing and starting to itch which is a good sign.

Photos From My Phone - November 2013 Edition

It's been a while since I've posted photos from my phone. Most of the photos I took using my phone have been included in various posts on the blog so there's not a lot to choose from this time around. Most of these have been posted on Instagram; so, if you follow me there, then I apologize for the duplication.

First up is a photo from a couple of Sundays ago. I was meeting my cousin, Alexandra at Hayes Nature Preserve so that she could take some photos of me and Pippa for our Christmas card. It was a gorgeous day so I drove up and over Monte Sano Mountain on the
way and am so glad I did. The leaves and fall colors were amazing and so worth the drive. Yes, I pulled over to take this picture.

This picture is of what was once a peace lily that was sent to me by my co-workers when my grandfather passed away earlier this year. Apparently it is Pippa's favorite toy because she has shredded it to what is now nothing. There are no stems left. I'm going to leave it in the pot for a while and see if it will grow again, but I'm not holding out hope. All the boxes in the background, by the way, contain Christmas presents. I promise I'm not a hoarder. .

I took this photo while stopped in traffic on the Parkway the week after the time changed. I don't know why it is, but every time daylight savings time ends, people seem to lose all capability of driving and the traffic ends up backing up. I have never understood this strange phenomenon, but nonetheless, it always happens.

Finally, I took a photo of Pippa sitting up on the chair beside the front door. The Tide used to do this all the time and it always gave me a chuckle, so I'm glad that Pippa seemed to have picked up this habit as well. I used PhotoGrid to place their photos side by side.

Photos From My Phone - September 2013 Edition

It's been a busy week and I've had zero time for composing or posting anything. So, I thought I would post some photos from my phone because I haven't done that in a while and at least it would be some new material for the week. I should have thought about it a couple of days ago though because I ordered a new phone and had it activated on Wednesday and have yet to figure out how to email myself more than one photo at a time. Nevertheless, I managed to pull these few photos off the phone for your viewing pleasure.

I go to the gym at the Downtown YMCA and this is the lovely view outside the gym door. I love Big Spring Park, but especially love this side of the park.

This Alabama wreath was made by the mother of my friends Meri and Lindsey. It looks a lot cuter in person. Notice the little "Nick Saban hat" on the side. A nice touch if I do say so myself.

Please bear with me as I post numerous puppy photos. One day when Pippa, or The Pip as she is often called, will be a big dog and we can look back on these photos with fondness, or maybe not. Here she is from a week or two ago gnawing on a ball in the back yard. This dog has a lot of energy and I wish I could just have an ounce of it for myself.

Another photo of Pippa - I like these profile pictures for some reason.

A rare moment of sleeping while I am at home.

Watching College Game Day can be tough for a wee pup.

This is how my den looks most of the time these days.

Another view of the extravagance of toys.

So, you may recall that back in June I attended a blogger meet and greet in Huntsville and was so very excited to run into my friend Lindsey at the event. Well, I'll have you to know, that Lindsey and I have hit the big time as our photo is in the Huntsville Event magazine -we've made it to the society pages, y'all! Thanks to my Aunt Linda for discovering this little nugget.
