Deal of the Week

While watching TV, have you noticed that a lot of companies are offering coupons on their respective web sites? It seems like almost every commercial I see these days says go to yada yada .com to get a money saving offer. One I recently saw was for Swiffer. I think almost everyone in America uses Swiffer. So, why wouldn’t you want a coupon?

I went to their web site today to check it out. They actually have two offers going on right now. The first offer is for either a $5 or $10 debit card when you purchase Swiffer refills. The form is downloadable and you just have to fill it out and mail in UPC codes along with original receipt.

The second offer is what I originally went to the web site for, which was a “money saving coupon.” I was disappointed to learn that the coupon is not printable from the web site, but after you fill out the required information, you can expect a coupon book for $30 worth of savings to arrive in the mail. I don’t know about you, but I get awfully excited when I receive these types of things in the mail. So, go to www.swiffer.com to take part in these money saving offers. The links are on the right hand side of the page.

Cirque du Soleil: Saltimbanco

Last night Tony and I went to see Cirque du Soleil Saltimbanco, courtesy of my aunt. She won four tickets and took my cousin (her daughter) and me and Tony. I don’t think Tony was really that excited to be going along, but I think he enjoyed it after it was all said and done.

Prior to the show, I looked up some information, on one of my most favorite sites, Wikipedia and read what it was all about. So, I knew a little bit of what to expect. (You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltimbanco) But, the article didn’t do this spectacular justice. The performances were absolutely amazing. The body strength of the performers is amazing. I have never seen anything like it. The colors were also very vibrant and overall it was truly a magical experience. My favorite part of the night was the last performance when there were four people on swings and bungees. It was beautiful and also looked like a lot of fun!

As I said, I think Tony ended up liking the show and when I asked him for a quote for this site he said, “Freakin’ fantastical fun for free.” Who knew he would use alliteration to express his opinion of the show?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any pictures (strict policy), and I had intended to take pictures off of the Saltimbanco web site and put here, but there aren’t any that can be used. So, you’ll have to check out the Saltimbanco site for yourself, which can be found here: http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/default.asp The Saltimbanco link is at the bottom of the page, and you can view the links for the other Cirque shows as well. It also lists the touring dates. The tickets here in Huntsville were a bit pricey. I’m sure the seats up top are less expensive, and we sat up top and the show was still great. So, keep that in mind should you decide to go.

Deal of The Week

I realize it’s been a while since I’ve posted a deal of the week here at The Chronicles of Nat. But, to be honest, I really haven’t come across anything to pass along. So, I’ve decided to fall back on my old faithful, the Wal-Mart sample site. This site features many samples that can be sent to your home from Wal-Mart and once the sample arrives, it often includes coupons that can be used should you decide to purchase the product. The samples vary from week to week, but often include dog treats, diapers, baby formula, and laundry detergent among other items. I try to log on once a week to see what’s new. So, check it out and see if you can’t find something that makes your skirt fly up.

USA vs. Trinidad and Tobago

Last week Tony and I went to a World Cup Qualifier soccer game – USA vs. Trinidad and Tobago. Now, I am not a soccer fan in the least – I honestly don’t understand it most of the time. I know the point is to get the ball into the goal and try to do that more times than the opponent. But, as far as the rules, offside, tackling, etc., this ol’ girl doesn’t have a clue. But Tony loves soccer. He got into it a few years ago and I guess he just never looked back. So, for Valentine’s Day, I gave him tickets to the game, which was in Nashville.

We headed north last Wednesday for the big match up. It was actually quite fun. I’ve been to a few high school games before, and in 1996, I went to an Olympic game with my dad and brother. There were a lot of people there, more than I expected. The crowd surpassed 27,000. There were a lot of rowdy fans from Trinidad and Tobago, but mostly the crowd consisted of US fans. The US won the game 3-0, thanks to Jozy Altidore’s hat trick. The guy’s only 19! It was a lot of fun and I have to admit, I would go again.

Tony is contemplating how to pick up the stadium.

I guess he figured it out.

We saw this guy outside the stadium - he had USA shaved on the back of his head.

Inside the stadium.

Tony's mugging for the camera with these guys from Trinidad and Tobago.

This guy from Trinidad and Tobago looked like he was having a good time. We think he looks like Carter Beauford from the Dave Matthew's Band...hmmm.

Nat and Tony at the game.

Rowdy fans from Trinidad and Tobago.

The US Team before the game.

Jozy Altidore - he scored all three goals!
