I Know, I Know

My mission of trying to blog every weekday has already failed me a few times this year and again this week. I apologize for there not being a post yesterday. I am super busy at work, trying to finish up the project I started last week. I want to have it finished before I leave and I’m beginning to feel a bit cross-eyed from all the spreadsheet cutting and pasting. Hopefully it will be completed soon and I can move on to something less stressful for my eyes.

Only four days until I leave for France. I can hardly believe it! I feel like I have a million things to do yet am not motivated to do any of them. Why is that? I’m pretty much finished packing except for a few things I will throw in Friday night or Saturday morning; so, at least that’s out of the way; but I still have to clean the house and mow the lawn at some point this week and I am for whatever reason feeling exhausted. My stomach has been bothering me too and for the first time ever, I left spin class about ¾ of the way through class yesterday. My stomach was so nauseous and I felt like I was going to vomit over everything; so, I left. I don’t know if it’s the heat or some of the personal stresses I’ve been dealing with or a combination of both, but I’m ready to feel better soon!

Speaking of the heat, it has been oppressive lately! When I got home from the gym last night, I took a shower and then went to get something out of the car and my neighbor Jeff came over for a chat. We talked for about five minutes and I think I sweat more in those five minutes than I did the whole time I was at the gym – that just ain’t right, people! I finally said to Jeff, “I love ya, but I’ve got to go inside.” I’m definitely looking forward to some cooler weather in France. Let’s hope the heat doesn’t fly over with me.

We’re going through a bit of a change here at work. We have a cafeteria here and recently, for whatever reason, the contract for the cafeteria was awarded to a new company. They will be managing not only the cafeteria but also the vending machines. Last week the cafeteria was closed down and the old company moved out while the new company moved in and yesterday the new company opened the cafeteria doors to an angry mob. Not really, it just sounds better that way. So, yesterday morning, I left the house without the milk for my cereal and went down to the cafeteria to buy some – only they didn’t have any! No milk! Are you kidding me? I ended up calling my friend Sabrina who was not yet at work and asking her to bring me some and she did. Then at lunch, the lines were long and the prices were higher and lots of folks were angry – although no mob formed.

The new cafeteria folks are also apparently over the microwaves in the facility – who knew? So, instead of the usual 10 microwaves in the cafeteria for people to warm their food, there were only four – four – and they weren’t even working. The maintenance guys had to unplug them, set up a table and plug them in elsewhere. It was all a ploy to get people to spend their dollars at the cafeteria – don’t you think?

This morning, when I came in and walked to the fridge where I usually put my lunch, that break room was closed because the floors had been waxed in preparation for the new snack machines so I had to use another fridge in another break room. Needless to say, this new company is starting off on the wrong foot with me and my co-workers. I did hear the food was good though, so at least there’s that.

This year’s Tour de France has been incredible! In addition to exciting stages and finishes, there have been a ton of crashes too and some of my favorites are already crashed out of the race. I’m beginning to wonder if anyone will be left racing by the time I get there.

I think that’s about it for today. I sort of just rambled on about a lot of nothing, but at least it’s a post, and that should make all two of my readers happy. I want to give a shout out to Erika too, my most loyal commenter. Without Erika, I probably would have given up on this whole blogging bit a long time ago. Thanks for keeping my blogging spirits up. You rock!

Don't give up! I read every time, but sometimes I'm just so busy that I just don't have time to click through and post. I use Google Reader to go through my blogs and websites of interest and I'm always happy to see you posting!

I always read too, but don't always comment and sometimes I read a few days later. I have become over zealous in my blog following and I get really really far behind every now in then. When those times I happen I simply don't catch up on the crafty blogs or other type blogs and catch up on just my friends...like today :). Can't believe you will be in France soon!

Awe; thanks!!!! I have been anxiously awaiting the latest post!
One day when you are super famous and have 12,000 commentors and have your own cookbook etc,...I want you to remember who it was that stuck with you in the beginning - haha!
Sorry to hear about the new cafeteria changes; I hope they get all the kinks worked out and get some milk before you return from your trip. What cafeteria doesn't have milk????
