Well, we’ve made it to Friday and I’m late getting a post up as has been the case on numerous days this week. I do apologize. This week has been a little more hectic than usual at work and then yesterday we got more snow and ice and I didn’t come in to work until around 10:00 a.m. so as to let the roads thaw out a little.
This weekend we are supposed to be warming up a little and the temperatures are supposed to be in the 60s all of next week. It’s a little spring teaser I guess. I read that the Farmer’s Almanac is predicting 16 inches for the month of February so with the two we got this week, we’re still due for another 14 – so, don’t put away the big coats just yet.
My bug man came yesterday morning and I normally let The Tide out when he comes but yesterday I let her stay inside so she could hopefully get a little used to him since I am going to start leaving a key for him. Either Jackie or I have let him in the past few years because he had a mild fear of dogs; but he has decided that The Tide is a friendly dog and that he will be okay with her. So, I am going to start leaving him a key so he doesn’t have to work around my schedule. Well, yesterday the whole time he was there, The Tide pranced around and showed her teeth continuously. I have never seen her show her teeth this much. It was cracking me up and I wish 1,000 times over that I had videoed it. The only person she really ever showed her teeth for was Tony and now she apparently is doing it to the bug man as well, only on a much grander scale.
My final payment for the big trip to France is due on Tuesday and I have received some of the initial intinerary plans including the pick-up location on July 18. The group I am meeting is staying at a hotel close to the airport in Lyon and I am staying at a hotel a little ways outside of town. The question is whether or not I want to change hotels so I will be staying at the same hotel as the pick-up location. The pros would be that I would already be at the location and wouldn’t have to take a cab across town and there will probably be some other people there that I can chat with and get to know before we start off on our adventure. The cons are that the pick-up location hotel is about $75 higher than the hotel where I’ve got my reservation. So, right now, I’m planning on just keeping the reservation I’ve got, saving the $75 and enjoying the time to myself before I spend the next two weeks sharing a hotel room with someone. What do you think? Give me some opinions here.
There are no big plans in store for the weekend for me. After spending all of last week and weekend celebrating my birthday, I plan to just take it easy this weekend, catch up on the DVR and do some house cleaning. I’ll probably do a few things to get ready for our “American Idol” gathering on Tuesday night since I am hosting. We still haven’t picked out any new shows to watch so if you’ve got a suggestion leave it in the comments. Tuesday nights are the nights we normally meet and a couple of us have DVRs so we can record a show and watch it later if necessary.
The final episode ever of Friday Night Lights aired on DirecTV’s 101 channel this week. The final season is coming to NBC this spring. If you have never watched this show then you are missing out on one of the best shows to ever hit television. You can’t just start this season though. Rent all the seasons through Netflix or find somewhere to watch on the internet because this show is AMAZING! It will make you laugh and cry, and make your heart pause all in one episode. It is so good and I am so very sad that it has ended.
If you want something quick and fun to do, check out Candy’s blog where she has a link to a site where you can guess what day her baby boy will be born, as well as how much he will weigh, how many inches, etc. She’s not giving any prizes for this little contest of hers, but it’s still a fun guessing game and I’ve never been one to shy away from bragging rights.
There are a lot of interesting things going on in Huntsville this weekend. Go here to the Chamber of Commerce web site to check it out; and, of course with the weather being nice you can always go for a hike or a bike ride. I may even have to break out the Blonde Adonis this weekend (that’s my bike for those of you who don’t know).
With any luck, I should have a couple of interesting posts next week. My friend Amy and her husband Wes have a new cow and there will be a post about the cow and there will also be a post about an interesting experience I had a Publix a couple of weeks ago.
In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and especially the warmer weather headed our way! Until next time…

Was The Tide showing her teeth to be mean??? She's probably the least mean dog I know! Maybe she could sense his fear.
Can't wait to hear about Amy and Wes's new cow, as well as the Publix adventure.
The hotel - I would probably change if I were you. I would just want to be where the rest of the group was, and would not want to worry about finding transportation to the pickup. BUT, I am really weird about stuff like that, and more of a scaredy cat than I used to be!
I really hope there is more snow to come because I just can't handle not being there for all that has been falling so far!! I'm excited to hear about Wes and Amy's cow too!!
As far as the hotel goes, I sometimes like to venture out because if you don't you might just be stuck with the same people the whole time and not get to meet some true locals. I'm all about getting into the culture and being at a hotel is already hard to do that, but if you change your hotel from the rest of your group you will be forced to venture out a little more. Just a thought. Good luck with making that decision!
