I've Got The Internet

Well, I’m sure you are all wondering about how the internet installation went this past Saturday and so I’m here to tell you, it went just fine. My appointment was scheduled for 10 am – noon, but surprisingly, the installation man (Scott) arrived about 30 minutes early. That’s right folks, 30 minutes early. I could hardly believe it!

I showed Scott where the internet connection was to go and he asked me if I needed a cable outlet there (yes) and so he had to go down the street to get a drill bit from another Knology worker since he didn’t know an outlet needed to be installed. For the record, Knology didn’t ask me, and I honestly didn’t think about it until that morning. So, Scott left for about 15 minutes or so and came back with the borrowed drill bit and go to work.

While working in the back bedroom, Scott got a little frightened because of the give in the floor. I meant to warn him before hand that the floor back there is rotting and would feel soft and then I didn’t and so he was in for a fright when he stepped on the floor – I’m sure he felt like it was going to fall through. I know I feel that way and this guy was a lot bigger than me. (For the record, the floor is going to be replaced this fall along with the floor joists, and sub floor.)

After about an hour or so, Scott had finished the internet installation and had my computer up and running. He gave me a receipt for the modem and was on his way. He was supposed to take a payment from me too, but he told me he doesn’t like to do the paperwork, so it would just be on my bill. Works for me.

When he left, I got out my netbook and tried to get online but had problems. I sent a text to my pal David to see if he could help me with the issue of not being able to get online. A few hours later, the internet wasn’t working on any of the computers and come to find out, the service was out in the area. Around 5:00 p.m., I called Knology again and a nice guy named Daniel helped me get everything working. So, I am now officially a member of the 21st century and have internet service at my home.

I really haven’t used it all that much – I looked up a recipe I couldn’t find and was making for Sunday lunch and then yesterday I looked up the Saturday Night Live skit where Andy Samberg portrays Mark Wahlberg in “Mark Wahlberg Talks To Animals.” It makes me laugh every time I watch it. That has been he extent of my internet usage. I still haven’t joined facebook for all you people (Sara and Candy) waiting on a friend request and doubt I will until I get a printer since the reason I might join is for couponing purposes, well, that and stalking people.

You don't have to have a printer before you get it set up! Remember....I'm your favorite so I should be your first friend. Just sayin....

Congratulations! And welcome to the 21st century! I don't really use the internet much at home myself. But I do enjoy FB and can't wait for you to friend me! (Friend, by the way, is now used as a verb not just a noun!)
