Christmas Decorations for 2013

We've reached the middle of December and I haven't done a post on how I decorated for Christmas this year. Not that it's a requirement, but usually I write a little something about it. I took a few photos early on but have yet to post them so I thought I would take the time to do it today since I did nothing last night but visit the gym.

I think I had mentioned earlier that I didn't put up my large tree this year and I am ever so thankful that I made that decision after The Pip's wild adventure on Saturday. I cannot even imagine what would have happened if that tree had been up and she had gotten into it. Instead, I bought a small (4 foot) tree at Wal-Mart on Black Friday. It's pre-lit with white lights and was a great price. I placed it on top of the cabinet in my den and put a few of my personalized and most favorite ornaments on it. So far it has been safe and The Pip hasn't knocked it over or pulled it off the table, but there's still plenty of time for that before it is put away until next year.

As for the outside of my house, I did the same old thing I always do - white lights around the porch with two green wreaths with red bows (compliments of my Aunt Linda) on the front columns. I replace the bows every year as I buy them when they go on sale after Christmas. It's a classic look and I love it. The only thing I  would really like to add are C9 lights around the rooftop; but I like the old C9s not the new ones and they don't sell the old ones any more so I don't know if that will ever come to pass. Still, I think it looks good as it is and I'll probably keep the same look for years to come. I did get new lights for the porch this year as some of my lights were not working. The new lights are a lot brighter and look better than the old dim ones.
I also bought a small led tree for my bedroom. It changes colors and is really quite lovely. I didn't put any ornaments on it, but I turn it on at night and love to watch the lights change from red to green to white to blue.

Those are all the decorations at Hacienda Nat this season. I made the decision to not put out my favorite decorations of all - my Lennox Grinch pieces. I did not want to risk having any of the pieces broken by The Pip and I believe it was definitely the right decision. Perhaps next year, or the year after I will be able to put them out again; but, until The Pip settles down, decorating will be minimal.
