Hi, I Follow You On Twitter!

Y'all I have no idea when I became such a dork, but somewhere along the way when I wasn't looking I turned into that weird girl from the party.

Thursday evening from 5-7 was a Rocket City Bloggers Meet and Greet at the Huntsville/Madison County Convention and Visitor's Bureau and I decided to check it out. I have not officially joined this group, as of the writing of this post, but was interested in seeing how one of their events would go. The event was set up to introduce bloggers and local business to form working relationships. Plus, there was free food and door prizes and I happen to be a fan of both of those.

Not long after arriving and enjoying a sampling of the appetizers, I spotted my friend Lindsey walking through the door. I was overjoyed as it is always nice to see a friendly face in a random social setting. Lindsey blogs over at I'll Never Be June Cleaver and also contributes to Tennessee Valley Moms. Lindsey is also the sister of my friend and co-worker Meri and we go to church together; so, I made a beeline for her when she walked through the door.

We chatted for a few minutes and then while Lindsey went to sign in, I went over and introduced myself to Carol Marks of Girl Gadabout. We follow each other on Twitter and Instagram and so I thought it would be nice to say hello. So, I introduced myself by saying, "Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself, we follow each other on Twitter." OH YES I DID. Such a random and awkward introduction. Carol then introduced me to Rich who was there to help promote blogs and asked me where I wanted my blog to go. To this I had no answer. I mean, really, I had no answer. I realize those of you who know me find this hard to believe.

I soon made my way back over to my comfort zone known as Lindsey. Moments later I noticed a guy across the room who looked familiar, that's because I follow him on Twitter too. He actually used one of my tweets in a story he wrote way back in the fall when the al.com revamp came out. I started following him soon after and still do. I also went up to him and introduced myself by saying, Hi, I'm Natasha, I follow you on Twitter. Seriously, life was so much better before social media. These people probably think I'm a stalker and I assure you and them that I am not.

Thankfully, I had to leave about 20 minutes until 6:00 p.m. so that I could make it to my WOW class at the gym. Sadly, Lindsey told me that after I left my name was called for a door prize - a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes! I guess it's a good thing I wasn't there or else I would have had cake for dinner and for the next few meals as well.

So, yes, I've apparently become that socially awkward stalker type girl. I have no idea what happened to me, but it seems I need to get out more.

Girl, you crack me up. I think it would be odd for social media to collide with face-to-face, and at a social media type event, I suppose your introduction was as proper and appropriate as any other :)
