Field of Screams Haunted Corn Maze

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. It brings back fond memories of trick-or-treating as a child and fall festivals at school. I have always loved to carve pumpkins and to me it seems that the Halloween season means that fall has officially arrived.

One thing I have never really cared about during Halloween, however, is Haunted Houses! I really don’t understand why people fork over their hard earned money to get scared by strangers. It doesn’t make a lot of sense. Plus, those haunted houses, trails, and mazes terrify me! I hate it when the people follow you and I especially hate it when they have chainsaws! But, over the years, I’ve been one of those people that have paid for the experience – only because my friends have dragged me to these wretched events! You know, come to think of it, they should have paid my admission all those times! Oh well.

This past Saturday, I went with Jackie, Maria and their children to the Field of Screams, Haunted Corn Maze! Why in the world anyone would take young children to a haunted corn maze is something I cannot understand, but I’m not a mom so what do I know? It seems like terrifying your children would only make for a miserable night for yourself. So, I went along and screamed and ran and was frightened – and the kids were not. I am pretty sure I screamed more than the children. In fact, Troy led the way with his light up shoes and was scared of nothing! The kids probably thought it was funny that I was scared and they weren’t! A few times Jackie would tell me there was someone walking behind me to make me scream and run! She would then proceed to laugh her butt off at me. A few times I screamed and held on to her so tight I would not be surprised id she had bruises on her arm!

At the end of the corn maze you had to walk through this enclosure that was black and probably made of parachute material. It was blowing at you from both sides so it felt like you were trapped. This is probably not a great description, but it really is hard to describe. After you got out of that insanity there were more masked men with chainsaws. I ran like the dickens to get out of there and then started laughing so hard I almost peed myself! I thought about it during church a few times yesterday, and it’s amazing I didn’t laugh out loud during the sermon.

The kids got to ride the cow train after the haunted corn maze experience. I was a little jealous that I didn't get to go, but then again, I'm not sure my heart could have taken it.

Here are some pictures from our frightening experience:

Here's the group before the haunting began!

Look at these kids! They are so excited!

There they go - into the corn maze!

Here are some of the terrifying creatures in the corn maze!

Here's one of those fools with a chainsaw!

Ths guy looks like he's going to kill poor Ashlyn!

Walking through the corn maze.

An "aerial" view of the corn maze

Finally, something pleasant - the Cow Train!

Troy and Ashlyn on the Cow Train.

Jackie, Troy, and Ashlyn - they still love their mom even though she took them to the corn maze!

Jacob, Maria, Regan, and Jordan - they love their mom too!

Since I don't have to kids, I had to borrow Jordan. This is not the most flattering picture I've ever taken. That coat is making me look like a sumo wrestler!

I borrowed Jacob and Regan too!

Do you remember when Jaycee's used to have their annual huge haunted house? I begged my mom to let me go with my older cousins and she finally agreed. I remember being terrified! Some man jumped out with a chainsaw and I lost it. Had to take the emergency exit before I died! One of the scariest moments of my life. I'm like you - I don't do chainsaws!!

I have never been to a haunted house. And here is why....I am scared of Santa, the Easter Bunny, Chuck E. Cheese, and let's not talk about clowns. And then when I wanted to go as a teenager my dad would always say, "It would be real easy for a real killer to sneak in there dressed up and could kill a bunch of people before anyone realized it wasn't part of the show." Thanks dad.
I was wondering if they would do the corn maze this year. Do you remember the plane crash at the Moontown airport last fall? I heard it was the guy that owned that who died. Not sure if that was true or not.
Glad you had fun and didn't pee your pants. Or did you?

Natty, I am with you - I do not like these haunted adventures either. And, I can soooo see you screaming and running and having a grand ole time. Happy Halloween (almost)!

I was told that I was the best mom ever and that my kids had a blast! So far they have not had any serious issues because of my demented fascination with scaring the crap out of them but I am sure in there young adult life it will come out in one of their therapy sessions:)

Wow my grammar is terrible! It should be "their" instead of "there".

I like it!!!! Last year i have visited Davis with my friend for attained one hunted house event show, organized by Corbett's House Of Horror. We both enjoy a lot with an affordable ticket price.
Thank you.
