Before I started dating Tony, I had never really won anything; maybe a few things here and there, but nothing significant enough to remember. When Tony and I started dating, we both began winning contests and prizes like it was nobody’s business. It was as though we were each other’s good luck charm. Our first big win was a VIP package given by Huntsville’s Broadway Theatre. The VIP package included two season tickets, $50 gift certificates to eight different restaurants, free parking, and free appetizers and drinks before each show at the Backstage Club. We were obviously thrilled and enjoyed every show (or at least I did).
After we became VIPs, we started winning tickets to movies and other shows and we won an entertainment quiz which allowed us tickets to other shows. We played BINGO at work during United Way week and won prizes there too. We were on such a winning streak, it was almost unbelievable. Even my friends were in amazement. It was as if we had been touched by Midas himself.
In the last few months that we were dating, it seemed we never won anything (was it a sign?), and after Tony left, I still wasn’t winning. It seemed as though every effort I put into entering contests and drawings was in vain and my name was to never be called again. Well, folks, I’m here to tell you I’ve got my mojo back and am once again on a winning streak!
A couple of weeks ago I won a DVD of Richard III given away on a blog I read daily. I was thrilled – it was the first thing I had won in months and let’s face it, folks, everyone loves to win! Today, I received an email from one of the local theatres that contained information about a contest for tickets to a show – I won! Only I ended up declining the tickets because I couldn’t find anyone to go with me at a moments notice. This is the plight of a single person!
But wait, there’s more… just a little while ago, I checked one of my personal email accounts and I have been selected to host a Chex Mix party for General Mills. They will be sending me three bags of Chex Mix to serve along with other goodies, including coupons for my friends. How exciting is that? I’m pretty thrilled! The party is supposed to be football themed but because I’ve got other plans on the original night I scheduled the party, I’m pushing it out by one night. Be sure to check back here later on in the month for an update on how the party went.
So, it looks as though I may have my mojo back and that’s really exciting. I’m off to enter some more contests – maybe I can even conjure up some prizes for the blog!
