Happy New Year!

Welcome back readers, or should I say welcome back to myself since it is I who has been gone for the past week or so. I had good intentions of updating a couple of times during my vacation last week but they all went awry when I opted for being completely and totally unproductive instead. I do hope you will forgive me. I was so unproductive in fact that my sleep pattern is off kilter and I will truly be missing my afternoon nap come 1:00 or so today.

I plan to upload some Christmas pictures to share with you this week since I should have done that last week. We had a white Christmas in Huntsville! It was really pretty and a shocker to most everyone. The weather forecasters predicted a dusting and we actually ended up with five inches or so.

I’ve added a countdown to the 2011 Tour de France way down at the bottom of the page. As I’m sure you know, I’m headed to France for the last week of the Tour. I tried to make a countdown until my departure but haven’t found one I like yet so for now I’m sticking with the countdown to the Tour. On the left hand side of the page I added a clock with the current time in Paris on it as well. In regards to my trip to France, I have some bad news to report. It looks like Jackie will not be able to join me after all. We were both really hoping she would be able to go but sometimes things don’t work out like we want and God has other plans for us instead. So, for now, I’ll truly be flying solo on the solo-moon. (I’m not sure if I’ve used this term here or not but since the trip to France was originally intended to be a honeymoon and now there is no wedding, it is often referred to as the solo-moon – get it?). My dad had briefly talked about joining me if Jackie couldn’t go but I have a feeling he’s going to back out too. Regardless, I’m sure I’ll have a great time either with someone or without. The only problem is if I am without there will be no pictures of me. That’s kind of sad.

So, that’s about it for the first post of 2011. I realize it’s not the most interesting or informative post that’s ever been written, but I did want to let you know that I am still alive and hope to have some more interesting posts in the days and weeks to come.
